DoD Mission Onboarding

Department of Defense (DoD) mission partners are required to secure their software solutions against an increasingly sophisticated array of cyber threats and vulnerabilities. As outlined by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and its Security Requirements Guide, mission partners must implement, maintain and monitor a rigorous set of security controls.

 

An organization’s specific requirements are determined by its corresponding Impact Level (IL). Each level measures the sensitivity of the information stored and/or processed in the cloud:

  • Il2: Information that’s been approved for public release.

  • IL4: Includes Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), non-CUI, non-critical mission information and non-National Security Systems data.

  • IL5: Involves highly sensitive data, such as CUI and NSS.

At first glance, the DoD Authorization and Assessment (A&A) process may look daunting. Without help, it can be a burdensome, costly and time-consuming endeavor — yet one that must be done.
