The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) granted a Department of Defense (DOD) provisional authorization for Project Hosts’ Federal Private Cloud (PJHFPC). The PJHFPC offers a platform as a service (PaaS) private cloud, hosting Impact Level 5 (IL5) controlled unclassified information data.

Project Hosts, Inc. is announcing that the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has granted a Provisional Authorization (PATO) at Data Impact Level 5 (IL5) to Project Hosts’ Federal Private Cloud.
Project Hosts continues to expand on their Security and Compliant Cloud narrative by adding DoD IL5 to their impressive list of security compliance standards. As one of only six companies that have been awarded an IL5 PATO and the only one to take full responsibility for securing customer applications, Project Hosts has become the go-to solution both for DoD agencies and for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who require IL5 compliance.
With their PaaS-level PATO built on Microsoft Azure, Project Hosts is able to offer DoD Mission Owners and ISVs the ability to place their applications in a DISA validated cloud environment that satisfies 87% of the IL5 controls out of the box, along with services to manage the remaining application-level controls. Mission Partners access their environment directly from the DoD network (DODIN) over the DISA BCAP without ever having to traverse the Internet.
The Project Hosts Federal Private Cloud (PJHFPC) PaaS is comprised of cloud systems and services that manage access control, authentication, auditing, monitoring, scanning, patching, configuration management, malware prevention, intrusion prevention, incident response, backup, and disaster recovery for any applications deployed on the PJHFPC. Since Project Hosts also manages application-level controls above the PaaS, Mission Owners are only responsible for the 5% of controls directly related to their users, such as authorizing those users and ensuring they have compliant CAC cards. As a result, Mission Partners can deploy applications in the cloud (including legacy applications) without requiring dedicated security personnel.
Other organizations with an IL5 IaaS or PaaS PATO (Microsoft, AWS, IBM, Oracle and DISA) leave their customers responsible for securing everything within the information system above their IaaS or PaaS, including all of the controls mentioned above for the PJHFPC. Project Hosts is the only company that secures, manages and provides continuous monitoring for customer applications deployed on their platform. Project Hosts also develops application-specific System Security Plans (SSPs), manages annual 3PAO scanning and penetration testing of customer-provided applications, and provides monthly application-level POA&Ms.
