According to West Monroe Partners’ recent report, the healthcare industry is leading energy & utilities, as well as the financial industry in cloud adoption. 35% of healthcare organization’s surveyed, house 50% of their data or Infrastructure in the cloud. The growing trend of cloud adoption is due to the understanding that cloud offers greater security against breaches and is more cost effective than hosting data on premises.
The report goes on to share that the healthcare industry is beginning to leverage the cloud in “facilitating secure and efficient communication among patients, doctors, hospitals and payers.” Microsoft illustrated the cloud’s effectiveness for interoperability during HIMSS18 last month, through their Patient Journey exhibition.
Healthcare IT interested in joining their peers in the cloud, should start with Microsoft Azure and CSP, Project Hosts, who offers several proofs of concept to get them started, beginning with migration.
